Traffic Management at Summerhill

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The campus has been designed with “Set Down Only Zones” inside the main gate; there is NO PARKING on the school grounds. We would also ask that parents/guardians refrain from parking on the path on the main road.

In the morning you may choose from the following suggestions;

a) Walk or cycle to school

b) Avail of a private bus service

c) Drive to Summerhill, locate a public parking spot near the school and walk from the car to the school. For those walking from the Retail Park direction there is a side gate leading into our school.

d) Drive in through main gates and use the ‘Set Down’ zones – pull in and park briefly as your child exits the car – you must remain with the car- NO PARKING.

There will now be morning supervision on the basketball court (1st – 6th) and on the Infant Yard between 8.20 and 8.30 each morning.

At home time you may consider the following;

Infants must be collected from school grounds.

a)     From the Infant Yard – for those who locate a public parking spot near the school and walk from the car to the school.

b)     From the Set Down Zones – drive in through main gates and use the ‘Set Down’ zones – pull in and park briefly as you collect your child from their teacher (classes will be lined up waiting on path on school side).

For all other Classes

a)     Child walks or cycles home

b)     Avail of a private bus service

c)  Park near the school and wait for your child to exit from the side gate and meet you at a pre-arranged placed.

d) Drive in through main gate and collect from the ‘Set Down Zone’, students will walk up from the school and wait on path on school side.

For 1st – 6th Class please complete the attached ‘Drop Off and Collection Arrangements Form’ and return it to the school. Only children whose forms have been returned will be permitted to leave school grounds via the side gate.  Please note that all Junior and Senior Infants are to be collected from the Infant Yard.

It is the parents’ responsibility to inform the school of any changes to your collection routine – once off or permanent. Should you wish to change collection arrangements permanently please request a new form from the office.

Please ensure that you talk to your child about your collection arrangements, ensuring that they are aware of safety procedures and what they should do if you are not there.

There will be a number of parents assisting with traffic management in the morning and afternoons for the first few days and throughout the year. The safety of all students is paramount and so we expect everyone to follow campus arrangements.

Thanking you in advance for your co-operation
